Icons for New Iconostas

Icons for New Iconostas

A new iconostas is being crafted for our parish by Master Iconographer Mr George Goutsev and Master Wood Carver Mr Peter Nedkov, both of Sofia, Bulgaria. The eight new icons arrived at Holy Trinity in May, 2007. These icons were done in the traditional Byzantine style and reflect icons in many Orthodox Churches throughout the world. The icons are quite a departure from the existing icons which have been at the current church for nearly 50 years

The icons done by Mr Goutsev include
a) Christ
b) The Theotokos
c) St Romanos the Melodist
d) Protomartyr and Deacon St Stephen
e) St John the Forerunner and Baptizer of our Lord
f) St Nectarios of Aegina
g) St Herman of Alaska
h) St Innocent, Apostle to America.

Mr Nedkov meanwhile, is crafting new Royal Doors with an attached archway which is nearly complete. He will carve eight new frames which will go over Mr Goutsev’s icons.
We hope to have the entire project completed by the end of the current calendar year, and blessed in 2008.

Previously, Mr Nedkov was commissioned by parishioners Nicholas & Dorothy Sinchuk to carve a new Tabernacle for our Altar.

Mr Goutsev has done several icons for Ms. Nancy Harrison, a parishioner at Holy Trinity. He offered a beautiful 18 x 26 icon of the Nativity of our Lord as a gift to our parish. The transfer of funds and icons between our parish and Mr Goutsev and Mr Nedkov has been seemless. They are honorable, Christian men.
