Wonders of the Small Church

The small church has incredible importance and value, although it may not carry the pomp of churches in Europe and elsewhere. I have one particular small church in mind: ours.

Again this year Holy Trinity observed Scout Sunday among the members who belong to local troops/packs or Nipmuck District BSA. Membership is down this year due to the relocation of two Scout families and the entry of two older Boy Scouts into college.

Fr. Marc asked Reader Stephen Bradford to offer a few words about his roles in Scouting. Stephen explained his two positions: Unit Commissioner, maintaining quality assurance in the two Scout units in Windham and his chaplaincy at Camp Webster in Ashford.

Stephen noted the rewards and challenges he experiences in each position. He shared an experience in each that he felt described the jobs Stephen also spoke of how the Scout oath and Law set a standard of behavior for the Scout and how it supports the Scout's faith experience.

The brief ceremony ended with Bob and Andrew Dolan sharing with Steve the recitation of the Oath and Law, followed by the singing of "Many Years."
