Although the summer, like all of life, is passing quickly, life at Holy Trinity has been quite active the past several months.
Plans for the Altar Consecration on Saturday, September 30, 2017, have quickened. His Eminence, Archbishop Nikon, will be assisted by several area clergy for this unique once-in-a-lifetime, consecration. The previous altar, in use from 1958-2016, and replaced by a new altar table constructed by parishioner Jon Matcheson, and assisted by his wife, Mercedes (Merci), in honor of the 2016 Centennial at Holy Trinity, will be consecrated beginning at 9:30.
Prior to this celebration four new 28” x 67” icons will have been hung on the side walls of the church. On Monday, July 31, Holy Trinity iconographer, Cveta Marinova of Sofia, Bulgaria, shipped to the United States (via airplane) the four early church fathers icons she has been working on for our church since January 1, 2017. The first four icons are of Saint Justin Martyr, Saint Irenaeus of Lyons, Saint Ignatius of Antioch, and St Athanasius the Great (of Alexandria), absolute giants of the early church. The first of the remaining six icons, all female saints, will enter into production immediately. On a sadder note, long-time and beloved Holy Trinity choir director, and significant supporter, +Mrs Zenia S. Zlotnick fell asleep peacefully in the Lord on Wednesday afternoon, July 12, 2017 at age 88. She had been married to her beloved husband, George, for nearly 70 years. Her mid-week Burial Service (July 19) was attended by 115 family members, friends, and parishioners from Holy Trinity. Memory Eternal, +Zenia.
