Wonders of the Small Church

The small church has incredible importance and value, although it may not carry the pomp of churches in Europe and elsewhere. I have one particular small church in mind: ours.

Once again the crew from Holy Trinity performed volunteer service at nearby Covenant Soup Kitchen. This was the third service of 2018 for the Holy Trinity team.

Several familiar faces were on-hand to help lead the crew - Sue Dolan, Bob Dolan, Reader Erik (Tikhon) Wallace and Tim Fetzko. However we were very happy to welcome Andrew Dolan and his friend Michaela along with Holy Trinity member and first-time volunteer - Diane Krot.

Today the team prepared the meal from a whole new menu, which included two soups, main course, vegetable, garden and fruit salads, bread and dessert. This time the team featured several different pasta dishes, including a baked ziti with meat sauce that was quite a hit with the Soup Kitchen guests. During the meal, UCONN students arrived with trays of homemade cupcakes, which caused quite a buzz in the dining room, as well as in the kitchen!

The team served a total of 93 meals in one hour to a grateful crowd.

Holy Trinity will conclude its 2018 volunteer committment at Covenant Soup Kitchen with one service more date on Saturday, December 8. The team usually performs one final service near Christmas time and will bring along sleigh bells and sheet music to sing carols to the guests.

Please contact Tim Fetzko to reserve your spot on the 12/8 team.
