Wonders of the Small Church

The small church has incredible importance and value, although it may not carry the pomp of churches in Europe and elsewhere. I have one particular small church in mind: ours.

Each person has a calling, a vocation to serve God and humanity in some capacity. Some are called to bear witness to God’s power through years of sickness or injury. To fulfill God’s will is rooted in the basic desire to see and hear, to understand and obey, God. He does the rest. Very often we reject where and with whom God has placed in our life, and so we struggle mightily to free ourselves from this situation and choose to retreat. The great challenge for man is to bloom where he is planted by God (Saint Francis de Sales), and by doing so, we witness to God and sanctify the space that we are occupying. If our work and intention is to bring glory to God, then we have the opportunity dozens of times each day to actualize God’s holy will for us. Fulfilling God’s will is not a futuristic event, but it is instead, rooted in the now, the sacrament of the present moment.
